Institutionalized Koala Ramblings

Davis is really rainy in winter, which only makes me miss the beaches and sun of Australia even more. I was moved temporarily to a more comfortable location when the female’s hard drive died and she was moving her monitors around. Now I’m back to being partially squished by a shelf and clinging on with a chin and two stubby arms to the top of the monitor.

There’s been several fire alarms in the building and two power outages lately. In all instances the female LEFT ME to my certain doom. I thought she cared? I was so happy when I overheard her talking to my stowaway adventure enabler about how she was going to take me with her to Japan and Korea. And then this. This blatant abandonment and utter lack of concern for my well-being is disturbing. I could have BURNED. BURNED!!! Or suffocated from the poisonous gases.

Humans suck.

There a new bloke in lab. I’ve been staring through my google fake-eye glasses. He is slightly lighter than I am in color, a bit tubbier. Fuzziest ears I’ve EVER seen on a koala. Oh yes. Another koala. This one’s apparently a fanatical patriot, what with that Aussie flag tattooed on the chest. Hasn’t said a word to me yet. I think he might have some joint problems. He sits all day with his limbs poking out. That can’t be comfortable.

I’m back. Maybe when I’m in a better mood I’ll post more about my trip home.

I had a real chance for happiness with this female I met (with a baby! so cute!) but the human discovered me. If I had real claws, he would not have lived to gloat, but I have no appendages with which to defend myself. So the human won through use of much force, and now I’m back to sitting on a monitor instead of a ‘roo and wearing those fake human eye glasses to look like I’m awake.

Am I bitter? I should be basking in the early summer Australian sun, eating eucalyptus with my potential future mate. You try not being bitter.
